Meet the Team
President
Dr. Meredith Berger
Dr. Meredith Berger obtained her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Animal Science from Cornell University in 2004. She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University in 2008. After spending 2 years in general practice, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists in NYC. Dr. Berger proceeded to gain extensive emergency care experience working in Staten Island and New Jersey. Dr. Berger’s special interests include toxicities, trauma, transfusion medicine, and surgery.
In memory of her coconut retriever, Susan, Dr. Berger volunteers with rescue organizations in the U.S. and the Caribbean, where she sends veterinary medical supplies and helps bring homeless companion animals from the Caribbean to the United States, where they are placed in their forever homes. She loves spending time with her two current rescue pups: Lily the Frenchie and Ellie the Chiweenie. On her days off, you may catch her riding horses at the barn or taking a Caribbean dance class.

Dr. Michali Berenstein
Dr. Michali Berenstein completed her undergraduate studies in environmental science at Barnard College, Columbia University, and went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University in 2010. She completed a small animal rotating internship at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists in NYC and has worked as an emergency veterinarian in Staten Island and New Jersey since then. Dr. Berenstein’s special interests include trauma, endocrine emergencies, and oncology. She loves spending time with her furry family of rescued animals, including three cats (Duck, Bunnie, and Dora) and a standard poodle (Anise). On her days off, you may catch her at a Broadway show, traveling, or diner hunting for the perfect pancake.
Secretary
Dr. Etana Berger
Dr. Etana Berger completed her Bachelor of Science degree from the University at Buffalo in Psychology with minor degrees in Biology and Women's Studies. She went on to obtain her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University and her Ph.D. in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2020 from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is a Board Certified and Licensed Behavior Analyst and published behavioral researcher with years of experience treating a variety of behavioral concerns. Additionally she has served as an adjunct psychology professor at several colleges and universities and as a practicum supervisor for those working toward their behavior analyst license. Dr. Berger additionally completed her dog training certification with the Victoria Stilwell Academy focusing on using fear free methods and positive reinforcement strategies. She loves spending time with her rescue pups Daisy Mae and Boomer and her rescue turtle Myrtle. On her days off, you may catch her gardening, working out, or reading mysteries.
